My friends and my community are not to be ranked !

Have you seen the feedburn hack the guys of the next web had screencast?

This is the last hot news on every blog tippers (even the french version of techcrunch is talking about the news). This excitment seems a little bit like a “so we could hack our ranking, do not beleive in ranking”. It is quite strange since, once again, ranking are not logical with the idea of networks.

May be some bloggers expect from their blog to access fame or authority through their blog. That seems an old media reasonning line. And anybody a bit smart will asks his friends to bookmark, stumble, digg, etc., each of his post. Surely, this kind of blogger will be tempted by feedburn hacking… That is not my goal.

I expect from my blog, meeting people, discuss with them and eventually build a community. That is far from the idea of ranking. However I do not contempt figures or ratio, they just have to be sensible. For exemple I would be interested to know both of them :

  • comments/post
  • comments/unique visitors

A blog, is a nod of people interested about a subject. On my blog I consider every comments like being one of my mates, one of my friends. Together they make me feel like being part of a community, and my community is due to ranking.
